A participatory creative writing and storytelling project.
I worked with people who are nearing the end of their sentence to create a book reflecting on their experiences of the justice system. We had conversations around how difficult it can be to maintain a sense of identity when you’re in prison, feelings of hopelessness and finding hope. I brought a range of storytelling techniques to this project and over the course of two days participants shared their stories through poetry, illustration, conversation and text based visual arts.
