India Georgia (b.1997) is an artist, writer and participatory arts facilitator from the North of Ireland, living in Manchester.

India’s practice centres on the lived experience, chronic illness and creative health. She is dedicated to using art as a tool towards healing, recovery and to amplify the voices of those belonging to marginalised groups including women, those living with chronic illness, neurodivergent young people and people who are incarcerated.

Drawing on her own experience of chronic illness, India’s recent work addresses a critical gap in the discourse on chronic conditions affecting women, particularly Endometriosis. In 2024, she was awarded DYCP Funding from ACE which has supported the development of this body of work fostering a dialogue of healing, validation of pain and storytelling routed within the personal experience. 

Her multidisciplinary approach spans poetry, painting, drawing, textiles and printmaking. More recently, she has been intwining fragmented text from her poetry with visual art making practices. India has an innate need to write but lives in a body that is prone to flare ups of brain fog and fatigue, causing her thoughts to become fragmented and the written word inaccessible. During these flare ups, she finds lucidity in visual storytelling, the gentle movement of drawing and painting and the repetition of hand embroidery, which has encouraged her to explore the intersections of narrative, process and materiality. 

Over the past six years, India has worked in participatory arts, creative mentoring, arts facilitation and arts education in a range of settings such as prisons, probation, alternative education provisions, pupil referral units, community centres and youth centres. Notable participatory work includes: Artist Residencies with TiPP, delivering participatory projects in prisons and probation across the North West of England (June 2025-present), Emerging Artist Commission with Peshkar Arts (March 2026), Arts and Crafts Outreach Facilitator at HMP Forest Bank (March 2024 - June 2025), Participatory Artist for Starling / Manchester Art Gallery (2023). Her participatory projects create a space for playfulness, connection through shared experience and storytelling.
